Associate Professor of Operations Research
Pasquale LEGATO graduated with honors in Industrial Engineering at the University of Calabria (Rende, Italy) in 1981. In 1983 he started his tenure track at the University of Calabria, where he became tenure researcher in 1986. He has been visiting scientist at the Duke University (Durham, NC, USA), the Istituto Elettrotecnico Nazionale "G. Ferraris" (Turin, Italy) and the Department of Computer Science - University of Torino (Turin, Italy).
He is currently an associate professor of Operations Research at the DIMES (Department of Informatics, Modeling, Electronics and Systems Engineering) of the University of Calabria. His research activities focus on the development and analysis of queuing network models for logistic systems, discrete-event simulation and the integration of simulation output analysis techniques with combinatorial optimization algorithms for real-life applications in Transportation and Logistics. He teaches courses on probability, statistics, queuing and simulation for system performance evaluation. He is a member of AIRO (Italian Association of Operations Research) and INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences)
He has been member of the Executive Board of the University of Calabria for three terms, as well as university delegate for the supervision of associations and spin-offs from the University of Calabria. On behalf of the Department of Informatics, Modeling, Electronics and Systems Engineering, he is currently the appointed delegate for the Department's R&D activities.
